Yarn Spinning & Story Weaving Workshop
This
fun and interactive workshop teaches students, teachers, librarians and
parents how to create and tell stories in a way that will have your audiences
so entertained and spellbound that they might even learn a thing or two.
Imaginative tips on how, when, where and why to tell stories. Small groups
will create stories, while literally spinning and weaving them, and then
present them to the group. Stage fright melts away in this workshop filled
with lots of laughs and learning.
One Hour Workshop, designed for young authors, parents, teachers and librarians,
covers all the above.
Two Hour Expanded Teacher Workshop covers all the above PLUS Story Theater
Workshop.

of crazy props and time-tested writing exercises, this fast-paced program
will leave the participants energized and ready to write!
One-Hour Workshop:
Karen Young uses her story recipe, crazy props and time-tested writing
exercises to fire up the students and get them writing. Stir in her Story
Starters and creative methods of character development and watch the students
cook up a story.
Residency:
This
5-week residency (each session is 45 minutes) allows the participants
to fully develop their story. Each session shows how to add depth to their
characters, setting and plot. By the end of the residency, voila! A rich,
sense filled story and a confident writer!

It All Adds Up: Story Detective Workshop
Little
Red Riding Hood and Grandma are missing! Detectives Andersen and Grimm
(Storytellers Side by Side Karen Young and Gale Rublee Portman) from the
Once Upon a Time Detective Agency are hot on the trail of the suspects,
but they need help. Small teams of students are deputized as “Story
Detectives.” Using math and observation skills as the wacky fairytale
suspects are questioned, clues are found and the mystery is solved.
